UK FAQ
Straight answers
Can I bring my wife, husband or children?
Only on some courses. Dependents are allowed on postgraduate research degrees such as a PhD, and on government-sponsored courses lasting six months or more. Taught masters students generally cannot bring dependents. We will tell you plainly whether your course qualifies before you apply.
Do I definitely need IELTS?
Not always. Many universities accept a medium-of-instruction letter from a Ghanaian or Nigerian institution for degree-level entry, and some accept a WASSCE English grade. Where the Home Office requires a SELT, we book the approved IELTS UKVI test.
How long must the money stay in the account?
28 consecutive days, and the closing balance date must be within 31 days of your visa application. If the balance dips below the required amount on any of those days, the count restarts.
Can I work while studying?
Yes â 20 hours per week during term time and full-time during official holidays, for degree-level courses. You cannot be self-employed or work as a professional sportsperson.
What is the Graduate Route?
A post-study visa that lets you stay and work, without a sponsor, for two years after completing a UK degree (three years after a PhD). Immigration rules do change, so we confirm the current terms at the time you apply.
Can someone else pay my fees?
Yes. A parent or legal guardian can fund you with the right evidence â their bank statements, proof of relationship, and a signed consent letter. Funds from other relatives or friends are usually not accepted in the personal-funds route.
